Most are familiar with the Biblical expression “an eye for an eye, “Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again” (Lev. 24:20 KJV).

Do you think it should apply today and if so under what circumstances? I am thinking of a particular Iranian woman (see link at the very top). A man threw acid in her face back in 2004 because she refused to marry him, which was her lawful right. She was grossly disfigured and BLINDED in BOTH eyes.

Originally the Iranian courts ruled that only one of his eyes could be blinded because in their words, “each man is worth two women” but now because she has chosen to forego receiving money from his family, the courts have said that both of his eyes are to be blinded.

They will only put a few drops of acid in each eye…enough to blind him but not disfigure him. Is this punishment actually a full “an eye for an eye” or should he receive EXACTLY what he did to her…acid in the face with no anesthetic, and lots of disfiguration on top of the blindness? Is he getting a lesser punishment because he is a man and does he deserve more or does he deserve mercy? And is this woman wrong to pursue an “eye for an eye” or is this what is needed to protect other women from men in barbaric nations who would injure them for refusing their “attentions”?

And should the answer differ depending on whether we are male or female, secular or Christian? Where is the fine line between justice and mercy?

When I finally lost the last 20 pounds, I thought I had it made. I expected to be lean and healthy, attractive and universally desirable. I was still in my early 20s, so I figured that I had plenty of time as a young person to attract the attention of the opposite sex. There was one thing, however, that I had not figured on – stretch marks.

I tried everything that I could think of for stretch marks removal, but nothing worked. There are all kinds of products for removing stretch marks, so apparently it is a pretty common problem. There are stretch mark removal creams, lotions, potions, unctions, and anything else that you can name. There are even herbal supplements out there that are supposed to aid with stretch marks removal. Believe me, I tried everything. I even tried the stuff that sounds pretty hokey. I was so desperate to have the stretch marks removed, you see, that I couldn’t give up.

I guess to understand where I am coming from, you have to know what a crushing blow the stretch marks were to me. I had never been thin and beautiful, but I had always wanted to be. I didn’t want to have to deal with stretch marks removal. I figured that when I was thin, it would be almost like starting over. It seemed like quite a few people couldn’t recognize me, so why did I have those awful stretch marks to remind me of what I used to be? If it was such a common problem, how come all of the stretch marks removal products didn’t work? I was getting desperate quickly, and I needed a solution!

Finally, I started looking at surgical removal of stretch marks. Surgical stretch marks removal may sound drastic to some people, but I was almost ready to consider it. This is good so far. There is a lot of detail. For future references: Don’t add TOO much detail. No one would want to read how Jordan took the key out of her pocket, put it in the lock, turned it, and opened the door, okay. Also, whenever a new peson is speaking, start a new line. You did it the second time, but not the first. But, in the question, you should’ve said what the story was about. It’s good so far though.
